Math is all around us

From Pre-K manipulatives, through fourth grade geometry, to eighth grade Algebra I, Harding students are taught that math is all around them. Students are pushed to engage with and explore the world around them as they seek out solutions to their math problems.  This pedogogy naturally leads students towards genuine curiosity, inquisitiveness, and confidence to tackle math's great complexities.

    • Fourth grade teacher, Katie Mullinix, knows the importance of making math applicable, and she actively engages students in the learning process. In math class, students heard the story of "Sir Cumference and the First Round Table." Afterwards, students conducted a circle scavenger hunt in the classroom and collected data on the various sizes of diameter for each of their circles. The data was then used to calculate the circumference of the circles they identified.
