Harding Academy’s students traditionally perform higher than students at other independent schools, as determined by Comprehensive Testing Program (CTP) scores from the Educational Records Bureau (ERB) and Gates McGinitie Reading tests.
Grade Average Equivalents for total reading on spring Gates McGinitie Reading:
First graders scored at grade 3 and 4 months
Second graders scored at grade 5 and 1 month
Third graders scored at grade 7 and 5 months
Fourth graders scored at grade 9 and 8 months
Fifth graders scored at grade 10 and 4 months
Sixth graders scored at post high school level
Seventh graders scored at post high school level
Eighth graders do not take the spring Gates tests but scored at post high school level in the fall
All students have music, art, computer, and physical education, as well as weekly library time, in addition to the traditional academic areas of language arts, math, science, and social studies. In addition, K–5 students take Spanish and middle school students choose between Spanish, French, and Latin.

In order to protect any immune compromised students, faculty, and family members of each, Harding will only accept immunization waivers submitted in compliance with Tenn. Code Ann. § 49-6-5001(c)(2) and (3).
