Angel Tree Program—Partnering to Make Holiday Wishes Come True. Each December, Harding partners with The Martha O’Bryan Center to share gifts of wants and needs with our young friends there.
The Martha O’Bryan Center is an anti-poverty non-profit organization that serves over 15,000 children, youth and adults every year, from every residential zip code in Nashville. Martha O’Bryan Center’s mission is to empower children, youth, and adults in poverty to transform their lives through work, education, employment, and fellowship.
Auction—Each year, the Harding Parents Association (HPA) hosts an online auction to raise funds that support student programs, activities, and initiatives that enrich the Harding experience. By hosting the auction online, families, alumni, grandparents, faculty, staff, and friends of the school can easily participate from anywhere. Every bid helps support the programs and opportunities that make Harding a special place for our students.
Book Fair—This annual fall event provides parents and students the opportunity to purchase new books, which are added to Harding’s library collection. Volunteers help receive orders, assist parents and students during the event and enter personal dedications. Students can purchase books for the school and dedicate them to family members, friends, or teachers. All books stay at Harding with the dedications noted inside the front cover. Notice of each dedication is sent to the recipient(s).
Faculty and Staff Appreciation—This committee plans a variety of appreciation events throughout the year to recognize and celebrate our outstanding faculty and staff. Special luncheons are hosted on conference days in September and February as a small token of gratitude for the dedication, care, and commitment they show to our students every day.
Fall Festival—This popular HPA family event transforms Kever Park into a carnival featuring food, games, and fun for all ages. This free event welcomes not only the Harding community, but also the Nashville community, for an afternoon of fun.
Field Day—PreK through 5th graders will enjoy a morning of games and competition hosted by the P.E. Department followed by a noon dismissal. 6th—8th graders will enjoy an afternoon of games and competition hosted by the P.E. Department with a regular dismissal.
Grade Level Parent Parties—These free HPA-sponsored events are held on campus, in the fall, for each grade to gather with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres to encourage community building within each grade.
Grandparents and Special Friends Chocolate—Grandparents and special friends have an opportunity to visit the campus and spend time with kindergarten through fourth grade children during this event, which takes place the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Guests enjoy entertainment by the students, classroom visits, and refreshments.
The Harding Art Show—This incredibly successful annual Harding event is well-known throughout our community and region. For three days, more than 90 artists show and sell their work in The Schwartz Center. Several parties showcase this event, which is open to the public.
Harding Family Connection—This special committee allows members of the Harding community to be supportive of one another. When there is an event in the life of a Harding family (death, injury, hospitalization, birth, etc.), volunteers work to let them know that the entire Harding family is here to support them.
Kaleidoscope Author Program—This wonderful HPA-sponsored program brings acclaimed authors to Harding’s campus to inspire a love of reading and writing. Through engaging presentations tailored to each grade level, students have the opportunity to learn about the creative process and connect with literature in a meaningful way.
Parents Party—This popular event brings Harding parents together for a fun and festive evening of dinner, entertainment, and community building. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with other parents, strengthen relationships across grade levels, and celebrate the Harding community. Tickets are sold to help cover the cost of the event.
Second Harvest Food Drive—This outreach event takes place in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving and provides an opportunity for the Harding community to give back in a meaningful way. Students bring in food donations, and parent volunteers assist with sorting and organizing items for distribution. All donations are then shared with Second Harvest Food Bank to support families in our broader community.
Shopping Program—Supporting Harding Academy can be as simple as doing the shopping you already do! Throughout the year, Harding participates in a variety of fundraising and giveback programs that help generate valuable support for our school at no additional cost to families.
In addition to these year-round opportunities, the HPA also partners with local businesses and vendors to host special giveback events throughout the year. These events provide a fun way for our community to come together while supporting both Harding Academy and local businesses. Every purchase, large or small, helps make a difference and contributes to the programs, events, and experiences that enrich the Harding community.
Songwriters Night—This ticketed musical event provides a fun evening for Harding parents to enjoy cocktails, dinner, and live music. Entertainers are songwriters from Nashville who perform their latest hit songs. Tickets are sold to cover the cost of the event and raise funds for the school.
Spirit Night—These HPA-hosted community events center around our Middle School athletics and are bursting with energy, school pride, and community spirit at the Sohr Athletic Complex. Held throughout the year at Harding home games, Spirit Nights feature fun activities such as food trucks, face painting, and balloon animals, creating a lively, high-energy atmosphere for all ages. These events are a wonderful way to celebrate our student-athletes while enjoying an evening together as a community.
Student Art Exhibit—This event supports our Lower School and Middle School art teachers in showcasing student work throughout the year. It provides a meaningful opportunity to celebrate students’ creativity, talent, and artistic growth, while highlighting the vibrant visual arts program at Harding.
Trivia Night—This community-building event brings parents together for a fun evening of friendly trivia competition and connection. Guests can participate as individuals or form teams of up to eight for a lively night of laughter, teamwork, and school spirit. Prizes are awarded to the first-place teams.
Uniform Consignment Sale—The HPA offers families an affordable and sustainable way to purchase gently used Harding uniforms and spirit wear. Shoppers can browse a wide selection of items, including Harding skirts, skorts, jumpers, dresses, branded polo shirts, and Harding athletic apparel. Whether you're looking to stock up on uniforms for the new school year or replace a few outgrown items, the sale is a great opportunity to find Harding essentials at a fraction of the cost while supporting our school community.
