Secondary School Counseling

Well-rounded, self-assured lower- and middle-schoolers grow into capable, confident high-schoolers. Harding Academy fosters this development through its unique PreK–8 model, as we focus solely on the academic, social, and developmental needs of students between the ages of four and fourteen. Harding’s reputation for nurturing excellent students is our biggest advantage when it comes to placing students in great secondary schools.

Eighth grade is a time to start looking ahead. That can be a daunting prospect, but Harding’s counseling office is there to walk families through the process, from helping them identify the best high-school fit for their child and organizing school visits, to keeping track of deadlines and gathering teacher recommendations, to advocating for students with high school admissions counselors. We know our students—their strengths, their weaknesses, their motivators—and that makes a big difference as we help parents navigate their child’s journey.

Secondary School Placement

Every year, we guide students through the submission of 90 to 140 applications to 15 to 20 different schools. Because we focus deeply on individual fit, our outcomes speak for themselves: since 2014, 92% of our students have enrolled in their absolute first-choice school (maintaining an incredible 87% even with recent shifts in the landscape since 2019).

We don't just get students into schools, we help families find their best fit school. In fact, over the last 15 years, our graduates have matriculated into an average of 11 different high schools annually, reflecting the diverse passions and paths of the families we serve.
