The Harding Academy girls and boys cross-country teams completed a very successful season by competing in the HVAC championship meets at USN's River Campus last week. The Harding girls were the Division A team champion and were led by overall champion Carly Frist '20 and runner-up Julia Hermann '19. The boys competed in the AA division and finished 6th as a team and were led by third place finisher overall, Eli Heaney '19.
In the girls meet, Harding had four of the top ten finishers in Carly Frist (1st), Julia Hermann (2nd), Rosemary Frederiksen (7th) and Mary Haley (9th). Frist finished the course in 14:31 and Hermann came in at 14:36, both PR's. Frederiksen and Haley finished the course in 15:08 and 15:10 respectively. Eighth grader Caroline MacGuire was Harding's fifth scoring runner in the championship meet.
In the boys meet, Eli Heaney was within striking distance of the leaders throughout the entire race and ended up finishing third out of 132 runners. Heaney had a PR in the race (11:33), beating his best time this year by :22. He was :02 back from the second place finisher and :08 back from the race champion. Jackson Tallent '18 came in second for Harding with a personal best time of 12:52 and Quinn Powers '19 was third with a time of 13:01. Other runners scoring personal best times for the Generals were Eli Galentino '20 (14:49) and Miles Scarpero '19 (15:46). Congratulations to all the Harding runners for a job well done this season!
