Harding Victorious in Spirit Game

Corby Lucas
The Harding Generals put a notch in the win column with a 12-0 victory over Parochial League member, East Catholic. East Catholic is a combination of St. Joseph School in Hendersonville and Holy Rosary Academy. It was a total team effort as the Generals only suited up 16 players due to numerous injuries.

Andrew Romito scored both touchdowns for the Generals, one from his tailback position and one as the quarterback in the wildcat formation. A stout defense held East Catholic scoreless and forced multiple turnovers in the second half, one of which was an interception by outside lineback Parker Wainwright '18. Chase Franck '19 saw his first action of the year at quarterback and did a great job leading the Harding offense.

The defense was reinvigorated by the return of defensive end Jordan Turner (USN) who made several plays in the backfield. The front eight rotation of Luke Venable '18, Samuel Hanrahan '18, Clarke Johnson '18, Hudson Powell '18, Huson Thrasher '19, Andrew Romito (Overbrook), Conor Corby '19 and Parker Wainwright '18 all contributed to the defensive effort. Noah Kim (USN), Hall Oakley '18 and Chase Franck '19 prevented any big plays in the passing game.

The Generals have one final game on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 5:30pm when they host Mt. Juliet Christian Academy. Go Generals!!
