On Monday, April 3, the Harding Academy Generals boys lacrosse team took on a tough Grassland opponent, but in the end they got the best of us by an 8-3 score.
There were some high points in the game. The Generals did a very good job of controlling the ball on offense in the first half limiting Grassland's possessions. However, in the second half we didn’t do so well partly due to some halftime adjustments. The highlight was the job our goalie Evan Cuffe did in goal with twelve (12) saves. Without his effort and the help from the defense this game could have gotten out of hand.
Harding was led in scoring by Charlie Crumbo with (3) goals. Harrison Mabry and Charlie Crumbo led us in ground balls with (4) each - Grayson Soper, Luke Haley, William Stanley and Max Baudenbacher with (2) each – Warren Coleman, Jack Spellman, James Johnson, Ryan Proctor and Morgan Bishop with (1) each.
Yesterday, the team travelled to Hendersonville and they bounced back nicely despite being a little shorthanded on the offensive side of the ball. Harding came away with a 7-2 victory.
We had a great performance from Hayden Hultman at Long Stick Middie (LSM) with (6) ground balls, excellent defense and a fast break goal of the face-off. We had another outstanding game in goal by Evan Cuffe with seven (7) saves.
We were led in scoring by James Johnson (3), Harrison Mabry, Hayden Hultman, Charlie Crumbo and Max Baudenbacher with (1) each. Ground Balls - William Stanley and Hayden Hultman with (6) each - Jack Spellman (4), Grayson Soper and James Johnson (3) each - Kyle Hultman, Ryan Proctor, Evan Cuffe and Charlie Crumbo (2) each – Harrison Mabry, Jake Connor, and Max Baudenbacher with (1) each.
The Generals are back in action next week with games against Brentwood and Woodland! Go Generals!!
