The Harding Hawks varsity football team faced an undefeated JP II Knight team on Thursday, September 4 at Sohr Track and Field. Although finding the endzone multiple times, the Hawks were unable to match the firepower of JP II and fell by a final score of 40-16.
Quarterback Riley Husbands '26 connected with tight end James Thomas '27 for the Hawks' first score. Husbands then threw a beautiful fade route to wide receiver Colston Laws '26 (Valor) for the 2 point conversion.
In the second half, tailback Nash Dononue '27 found the end zone on a power play and the Hawks once again converted the 2 point conversion. Henry Johnson '27 was a significant threat on kick returns, almost returning 2 separate kickoffs for TD's.
The Hawks will return to action next Thursday, Sept. 11 as they have their first road trip of the season to Grace Christian Academy in Leiper's Fork. Go Hawks!
