Varsity Girls Basketball Defeats Christ The King on the Raod

Jason Embry
The girls basketball team traveled to Christ The King on Thursday, January 8 after a long layoff from the winter break. After a few good practices, the girls were ready to take on an opponent. This was a hard fought defensive game with it going back and forth over the course of four quarters. At the end of the first half, the Hawks were ahead 9-7. In the third quarter, the Raiders took a 21-16 lead with back to back three pointers. However, in the fourth quarter, the Hawks would not be denied. They outscored the Raiders 9 to 2 in the quarter and with three seconds to go in the game Grace Thigpen sealed the win with a put back layup. The final score was 25-23 in favor of the Hawks. Jamie Gaddie Embry led all scorers with 14 points and 4 rebounds and Grace Thigpen pumped in 8 points to go along with 4 rebounds. It was a great win against a tough Raiders team. Go Hawks!
