On Monday, May 9, six sixth graders represented Harding Academy at the Akiva School Math Contest. Those participating were: Adam Wang, William Gu, Asher Maxwell, Billy Jones, Cate Frist, and Maria Carter. There were seven area schools attending with 42 students. The contest consisted of an individual test, a small group test, and a trivia contest.
On Friday, April 15, Google Expeditions helped Harding faculty members Ben Kreps and Andrew Ballow present virtual reality technology to groups of students as well as to a group of parents and teachers.
Ava Sjursen and Alex Wang finished in 1st and 3rd place, respectively, in this year's county-wide Arbor Day essay contest. Asked to write about their favorite tree, both students read their essays in front of a large crowd at Centennial Park on Thursday, March 10th. The students received plaques from Mayor Megan Barry, commemorating the event and their outstanding essays. Congrats, Ava and Alex!
On Saturday, December 5, 2015, Harding Students competed in the Central Magnet Scholastic Chess Championship in Murfreesboro.
In the Primary Section, Elizabeth Eyler won 3rd Place!
In the Elementary Section, Middleton Henry won 12th Place and Nathaniel Nelson won 23rd! The Elementary Team won 5th Place, despite being short two players.
The Nashville Chess Center and the Nashville Predators co-hosted the third annual Predators Chess Day at Bridgestone Arena on Saturday, November 14.
In the Primary Section, Fuller Hessel took 1st Place, winning all 5 of his games! Connor Britt and Austin Tant played some great games, and Ryan Britt played at his first tournament.
In the Elementary Section, Alex Wang took 3rd Place with 3.5 points! Middleton Henry won 5th Place and Owen Irving came close, playing some great games as well.
Last, Adam Wang played up in the High School Section, winning 2nd Place with 4 out of 5 wins!
