6th Grade Lady Generals Journey to Hendersonville
The 6th Grade Lady Generals enjoyed an exciting game on the road at GNAC opponent Hendersonville Christian on Friday night. Facing four 8th Grade starters and several 7th Graders from Hendersonville, the Lady Generals may have been outmatched in experience, but not in heart.
Playing their first game on a full court, the Generals needed a few moments to calm their nerves and settle in. Center Avery Cooper pulled in 6 rebounds and led the team with 4 points. Charlotte Gunnels, Maddy Hartleroad, Abby Morrison, Evie McKenzie, and Margaret Grobmeyer all chalked up baskets in a true offensive team effort. Isabella Montgomery and Sofi Stankiewicz teamed up to pull in several rebounds each, and Layla Perkins snagged steals on the defensive end as the Generals attempted to stop an amazing 23 point performance by the Hendersonville Point Guard.
While they were defeated 33-15, it was a night of excitment and first experiences that will further season a young team.
