From the kindergarten play through the middle school’s ambitious all-school spring musical (with over one hundred participants in grades 1-8), theater plays a central role in the life of Harding Academy.
Consistent with our PreK–8 philosophy, school plays and other performances are one of the most important ways we provide students the opportunity to grow skills of leadership and self-presentation. In addition to the cast of our musicals, the stage managers, stage crew, and light and sound technicians are all students. Notably, many of Harding’s productions have also been choreographed by very talented eighth graders who conceive of the dances and then teach them to the cast.
Recent productions have included Singin' in the Rain Jr., Disney's Newsies, and Fiddler on the Roof.
