Alumnae Assist in Theatre Department

Katherine Miller
The theatre department is incredibly grateful for the assistance of two alumnae whose hard work and dedication have tremendously contributed to the successes of the most recent musical productions. Avery Hannon '11 has served as choreographer and says, "The first day when I walked into teach "Under the Sea" to a 100 students in The Little Mermaid, I could have never imagined that I would fall in love with this job and these kids. I could look out at everyone and remember being in their exact position, but also see the plays in a new light by being a teacher.  I came in with the intention of teaching them, but in reality I learned much more from then than they ever did from me. If I could, I would never leave, but I will forever be changed from my time working with the Harding theater program and with the amazing people involved with it."

Blythe Cate '05 served as assistant director and can also be seen around campus some days as a substitute teacher. Blythe says, "Harding has held a warm place in my heart since I entered the school in kindergarten. In my eighth grade year, I was fortunate to be part of Dr. Bell's first play here, performing the role of the Wicked Witch in The Wizard of Oz. I am now grateful and honored to have had the opportunity to assist him with this year's productions. I have also been substitute teaching, which has filled me with fond memories as I work in the classrooms where I myself was a student, alongside many of the teachers who taught me. This is truly a wonderful place to be."

Harding Academy truly appreciates your involvement and dedication. Thank you.
