Generals Finish Regular Season, Prepare for HVAC Tournament
The Harding varsity wrestling team concluded its season this past week with matches against Grace Christian, DCA and Brentwood Academy. The Generals are focused and prepared for Saturday's end of season HVAC tournament.
Against Grace Christian, Alex Ray '16, Daniel McGuire '16, Will Higgins '16, Garrett Schultz '15 and Seve Ortale '15 were all victorious in the varsity match. Also winning exhibition matches for the Generals were Hutch Morel '17, Alex Ray, Will Higgins, William Myers '17 and Zachary Nelson '15.
Will Higgins, William Myers, Scottie Koehner and Will Wheeler all collected wins against a small DCA team. The match ended in a 54-18 victory for the Generals over the Wildcats who are an HVAC opponent. In the nightcap, Harding faced a very tough Brentwood Academy team, the returning HVAC team champion. In matches contested, Harding won several close bouts against some of BA's top wrestlers. Garrett Schultz and Seve Ortale remained undefeated in HVAC competition by scoring decisions over their opponents. It was the first HVAC loss of the season for both of the BA wrestlers. Scottie Koehner also won a tightly contested match against another solid BA wrestler. Alex Ray, Daniel McGuire and Drew Lancaster all scored forfeit victories for the Generals. The final match score was 54-27 in favor of Brentwood Academy.
The final competition of the season takes place this Saturday at BGA. Action starts around 9am and continues throughout the day! Admission is $5/adult with kids being free. Go Generals!
