Harding Varsity Wrestlers Make it Through Challenging Week

Corby Lucas
The Harding Generals varsity wrestling team faced its most challenging week of the season this past week. The Generals hit the road to face two Williamson County schools, Page and Sunset. They then hosted perennial middle school wrestling power Nashville Catholic. Although not coming out on the winning end of any of these contests, the Generals were better off for the experience in their preparation for next week's season-ending HVAC tournament at Battle Ground Academy.

The only two wrestlers to win matches for Harding against a Page team that just recently won the middle school duals at MBA over McCallie were Daniel McGuire '16 and Garrett Schultz '15. The Generals had five wrestlers with victories over Sunset Middle School. Those wrestlers were Will Wheeler '16, Hutch Morel '17, Daniel McGuire '16, Will Higgins '16 and Seve Ortale '15

In the week's finale against Nashville Catholic, the Harding wrestlers continued to improve against tough opposition. All Harding wrestlers had two matches, which was great for mat time and experience. Winning both matches on the night were; Daniel McGuire '16, Will Higgins '16, Garrett Schultz '15, Seve Ortale '15 and Will Wheeler '16. William Stanley '17 actually wrestled three matches and was a two match winner. Alex Ray '16 split his two matches.

Harding heads into its final week of competition next week. There are two home matches on the schedule against Grace Christian on Tuesday (11/18) at 4:30pm and against Brentwood Academy and DCA (tri-meet) on Wednesday (11/19) at 4:30pm. Go Generals!
