Varsity Girls Basketball Falls to USN

Coach Chris Holleman
In the regular season finale for both squads, the Varsity Girls Basketball team simply ran out of gas in falling to a deeper and bigger USN team, 44-22.
After a back-and-forth game quickly turned into a 10-2 deficit at the end of the first quarter, the Generals opened the second quarter on an 8-0 run to knot the game at 10-10.  Despite some costly turnovers and missed free-throws, the girls found themselves down only 19-11 at the break.  After hanging around in the early stages of the third quarter, the tired Generals finally succumbed to the superior depth, size and athleticism of USN, particularly that of Mary Sophia Reich who dominated the third quarter and led all scorers with 14 points.  Abby Andrews led the Generals with 11 points, Lowery Nickels chipped in 4, and Ellie Slagle added 3 points.
