Varsity Girls Basketball Clinches No. 1 Seed with Road Win

Coach Chris Holleman
The Varsity Girls Basketball team went on the road and defeated Mt. Juliet Christian Academy 24-17, sweeping the season series with the Saints and clinching the No. 1 Seed in the tournament and at least a share of the regular season title.
In a tight, back-and-forth game, the Generals trailed at the end of each of the first three quarters before finally wearing down the home team with relentless defensive pressure in the full and half court.  Down 15-13 at the start of the fourth quarter, the Generals nearly doubled their scoring output for the game, hanging 11 points on the scoreboard in the final period.  Abby Andrews and Zara Bracegirdle tied for game-high honors with 8 points apiece, while Lowery Nickels added 6 of her own.  Ellie Faber rounded out the scoring with 2 points, admirable hustle and sparkling plays on defense and offense before leaving with an injury mid-way through the second half.  Ellie Slagle stepped in for her and provided a tremendous effort at both ends, helping spark the fourth quarter surge that closed out the game.
