Hilary Fremont Takes First Place in the HVAC Division A Finals
The girl's varsity cross-country team competed in the HVAC Division A Finals on Wednesday, September 28 at the USN River Campus. Hilary Fremont ran an excellent race. She was able to take the lead on the last 1/4 mile and never looked back. Hilary finished the race in first place overall with a PR and an amazing time of 13:35. Annie Thurman was able to set a PR as well. She finished with a time of 15:04 in the 2-mile run. Savannah Fitzgerald continued to get better and better each week. These three 7th grade girls had a great season and I'm looking forward to what next year will hold.

Hawks Fall to Tigers in Season Finale

The Harding Hawks varsity football team took to the field one final time on Thursday, September 29 for its annual spirit game against the Ensworth Tigers. There was a capacity crowd on hand to support the Hawks and it was an incredible environment for a middle school football game. In the end, Ensworth had a bit too much firepower and came out on top, 38-14.

Harding went toe to toe with the Tigers through the first quarter. It was a 6-6 game at the end of one. Ensworth began to pull away through the second quarter and took a 20-6 lead into the half. A Harding fumble on the opening kickoff of the second half and an Ensworth score proved to be too much from which to bounce back.

Special recognition goes to the Hawks' 8th grade players for a really successful season. Congratulations to Chase Embry, Daniel Maumus, Quinn Taylor, Cooper Wells, Luke Fields, Matthew Hillenmeyer, Carter Mohr and Jackson Lucas who finished their football careers at Harding Academy with a winning season! Harding's co-op partners also had 8th grade players who deserve recognition. USN 8th graders Luke Kleiner and Henry Baxter. Valor Collegiate had 8th graders, Chris White, Johnny Brown, Levi Broadwell, Christian Johnson, and Lance Blaylock. Finally, we had one 8th grade player from Linden-Waldorf, Zain Khaleeli.

It was an amazing experience bringing players together from 5 different schools onto one team and watching them grow as individuals in the sport as well as coming together as a football team. We wish everyone the best the rest of the school year and look forward to competing against our teammates in other sports throughout the year!

Varsity Girls Tennis
The Varsity tennis season has officially wrapped up for the Harding girls. This past week the girls all played in the HVAC tournament at Jim Warren Park. Every girl played hard no matter the score. Hannah Sides, at one singles, played some of the best tennis she’s played all season, ending the season better than she started. Caroline Vrettos, at two singles, played some amazing tennis. She won her first round match against BGA (8-3), a girl that she had lost to earlier in the season showing tremendous effort and improvement throughout the season. Margaret Greathouse, at three singles, had some outstanding play making it all the way to the finals. In the finals, she was mentally tough and fought hard until the very end. Kipling Miller and Lauren Sullivan, at one doubles, played some amazing tennis earning their way to the finals. Karson Speyer and Louisa Smith, at two doubles, played some of their best tennis yet. They didn’t have any easy tennis matches, and they fought their way making it to the semifinals.

Congratulations to Caroline Vrettos, Karson Speyer, and Louisa Smith for making it to the semi-finals! Also, huge congratulations to Margaret Greathouse, Kipling Miller, and Lauren Sullivan for making it to the finals! In the HVAC tournament, there are individual winners, and also a decided Girls Team Champion. This is determined by how every girl plays, meaning every match went into consideration for this award.
Based on these things, we are so proud of our Harding Girls Varsity Tennis Team for earning HVAC Girls A Tennis Runner-up!! Huge congrats to these girls for their hard work all season. This award was earned by every girl for the way they played all season and in the tournament. Go Hawks!

Boys Varsity Cross-Country Competes in the HVAC Division A Finals
The boys took to the course on Wednesday, September 28 for the HVAC Div. A Finals. All three boys set a PR and finished in the top 10. Sebastian Muller finished in 2nd place overall with a time of 12:25. Judge Murphy finished in 3rd place overall with a time 12:35 and Robert Thompson finished in 9th place overall with a time of 13:51. These boys ran an awesome from start to finish! Go Hawks!

6th Grade Football (September 26-30)
The Harding 6th grade football team finished up their season with a game against BGA this past Tuesday afternoon. Everything was clicking for the Hawks during this game from the start, as they put together their most complete performance from all three phases. Jack Moran (Holy Trinity Montessori), Briggs Waddey ‘25, and Holden Thomas ‘25 each found the endzone for scores during the game, and Britton Dibble (USN) had one of his best games running the football as the offense was clicking on all cylinders. This was a complete team effort as multiple players were able to enter the game and contribute in different ways. Once the final horn sounded, the Hawks came out victorious by a score of 38-6. What a way to put the finishing touches on a very successful season! Go Hawks!
