2022 Late Fall Athletic Information
Parents and Athletes:
Please find information below for the Late Fall Athletic Season at Harding Academy. Questions on any aspects of the programs should be directed to the Head Coach of each sport. Also, please make every effort to be in attendance at the parent meetings as important information along with season expectations will be addressed by the coaches.
Soccer season is just around the corner! Practice will alternate weekly between Kever Park and Sohr Family Track and Field and will begin on Monday, October 3 for those not involved in the school play. Those involved in the play production will begin practice on Monday, Oct. 10. Monday, Oct. 10 and Tuesday, Oct. 11 will be our tryout days. Harding will field both a varsity and JV soccer team. Wherever practice occurs, students will be back at school between 5:05 - 5:10 PM to be picked up at the depot. Practice attire includes: shirt and shorts per HA standards, full socks, shin guards, soccer cleats, and sweats and/or rain gear as weather dictates.

Developmental Swimming (Late Fall)
The late fall swim team is open to middle school students, with fewer than 2 years of competitive swimming experience. The late fall season is designed to be focused on exposure to the competitive sport and instruction of stroke technique. The winter season is wholly focused on competition. Workouts will begin the week of October 3. Our daily practices will consist of some dryland workouts and in-water work. Practices will take place Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, from 3:15pm to 4:00pm. Students will take the bus to the Ensworth Natatorium, and will be back at Harding by approximately 4:15pm.

The wrestling season will get underway officially on Monday, October 3. Practice will be from 3:30-5:00 PM daily. Wrestlers are responsible for providing their own wrestling shoes, headgear, knee pads, etc. Practice attire will include shorts and t-shirts and headgear will be worn at all times during practice. No experience required.

Hilary Fremont Takes First Place in the HVAC Division A Finals
The girl's varsity cross-country team competed in the HVAC Division A Finals on Wednesday, September 28 at the USN River Campus. Hilary Fremont
ran an excellent race. She was able to take the lead on the last 1/4 mile and never looked back. Hilary finished the race in first place overall with a PR and an amazing time of 13:35. Annie Thurman
was able to set a PR as well. She finished with a time of 15:04 in the 2-mile run. Savannah Fitzgerald
continued to get better and better each week. These three 7th grade girls had a great season and I'm looking forward to what next year will hold.Boys Varsity Cross-Country Competes in the HVAC Division A Finals
The boys took to the course on Wednesday, September 28 for the HVAC Div. A Finals. All three boys set a PR and finished in the top 10. Sebastian Muller
finished in 2nd place overall with a time of 12:25. Judge Murphy
finished in 3rd place overall with a time 12:35 and Robert Thompson
finished in 9th place overall with a time of 13:51. These boys ran an awesome from start to finish! Go Hawks!6th Grade Football (September 26-30)
The Harding 6th grade football team finished up their season with a game against BGA this past Tuesday afternoon. Everything was clicking for the Hawks during this game from the start, as they put together their most complete performance from all three phases. Jack Moran

‘25 each found the endzone for scores during the game, and Britton Dibble
(USN) had one of his best games running the football as the offense was clicking on all cylinders. This was a complete team effort as multiple players were able to enter the game and contribute in different ways. Once the final horn sounded, the Hawks came out victorious by a score of 38-6. Harding girls varsity tennis played hard for another week. A tough match on Thursday, 09/22 against Franklin Road Academy. Caroline Vrettos
fought hard, down 1-7 and came back to 6-7, and ended at 6-8. Hannah Sides
also down, never stopped fighting. Another close match was played by Louisa Smith
and Karson Speyer
. Long points and hard fighting by both girls, ending at 7-9. Varsity Girls Tennis vs. Lipscomb Academy
Due to heat on Wednesday, the rescheduled Lipscomb Academy was play on Monday, 09/26. Harding Girls Tennis won overall with a 3-2 team record. Every match was close, and played hard. Margaret Greathouse

won at 1 doubles. Karson Speyer
and Louisa Smith
