From the Desk of the Head of School- April 29, 2022
Dear Harding Academy Learning Community,
We are on the cusp of having The Harding Art Show return to campus for the first in-person show since 2019. I want to thank Ally Freeman and Shaila Bannock, who have put in an amazing amount of time and effort over the last two years in preparation for next week’s show which will run from Thursday, May 5, to Saturday, May 7. It is also important to note that this would not be possible without the attention, care, and incredible work of Dina Sjursen and Angela Nord who made sure the spirit of the Art Show stayed alive and put on an incredible virtual show last spring.
Something like The Harding Art Show - with 77 artists from 14 states across the country and an expected attendance of 5,000+ guests over the three day period of the Show - doesn’t happen without everybody in the Harding Academy community pitching in across a myriad of Show needs. I want to thank the various committee chairs who have been tireless in their efforts to recruit volunteers to help pull this show off. I want to take a moment to ask that if you have not already volunteered for some aspect of the show, to please consider doing so today. It really does take all of us to make this happen.
To that end, as many of you have heard me say before, this show represents all that is great about our community. We are in the ten most formative parenting years of our lives and a big reason many of you selected Harding is because the community was one in which you saw yourselves growing as a family. In the Art Show, we can point to a manifestation of this “feeling” as we give a little bit of ourselves for something bigger, for something that Nashville looks forward to each year, for something that will directly benefit our children as the Harding Parents’ Association’s largest fundraising event of the school year.
I cannot wait to see everyone on Thursday, May 5 here on campus - live and in person. It really is a wonderful celebration of the incredible talent on display.
