Harding Athletic Highlights 4/18-4/22

Varsity Baseball (4/18-4/22)
The Hawks wrapped up their regular season with a home game against USN. The Harding fans packed the stands for the Spirit Game and provided the extra energy the team needed to pull off an exciting 2-0 victory. The Hawks were able to get on the board in the 1st inning when shortstop Daniel Maumus stole home on a passed ball. They added on another run in the 2nd inning after Camden Haren stole second base, third base and then scored on a groundball from 6th grader Will Bickley. That was all the support pitcher Benton Wright needed as he dominated for 6 innings, only allowing one hit while racking up 8 strikeouts. Closer Eli Russ shut the door in the 7th inning with a 1-2-3 inning to secure the win and get the save. The Hawks finished their season strong and now turn their focus to the playoff tournament starting on Monday, April 25. Games will take place at the Bellevue Rec. Fields and at MBA's 42nd ave field.

Tough Overtime Loss for Varsity Boys Lacrosse
The Hawks played USN for the second time in two weeks with a thrilling goal by Jackson Lucas with 5 seconds remaining in regulation sending the game into overtime. We didn't prevail in overtime and lost the 5-6, however, this was a huge improvement of the last game were we lost 2-14. Stewart Clay was outstanding with 11 saves as the goalie.

Varsity Boys Lacrosse Loses To Pope Prep
We played a tough game against a strong Pope Prep team but in the end lost 11-3. Stewart Clay had another outstanding in goal facing 22 shots on goal with 11 saves.

Varsity Girls Lacrosse Loses To Harpeth Hall in Tournament
Harding girls' lacrosse fell to Harpeth Hall 9-2 in the first round of the HVAC tournament. Lauren Sullivan scored Hardings' 2 goals and recorded 3 draw controls and picked up 5 ground balls. Reagan Militante had 1 assist and 1 ground ball. Carter Floyd picked up 5 ground balls and had 1 draw control as well. Gracie Meriwether, Emerson Smith, Susan McCarley, and Olivia Zanetti all had multiple ground balls as well.
