Girls Varsity Basketball
The Harding girls' Varsity basketball team has won four of their previous six contests to begin their ascent up the standings in the HVAC. Victories in the six game stretch include strong showings against University School of Nashville, Valor, Holy Rosary and a comeback win against Franklin Road Academy. Point guard Emerson Smith has led the scoring in each of the contests posting totals of 18, 16 and 14 along the way. Charlotte Mikos has been the second leading scorer during the six game stretch including a season high scoring performance against Holy Rosary, while Stella Frisbee recorded a double digit scoring outing against Valor. Lauren Sullivan stepped up and knocked down a pair of clutch free throws in the waning moments to cap off the come from behind win against FRA. The girls will set their sights on their final two contests before entering tournament play at the end of the week.
Harding Swimming
The MTHSSA Mid-State Championship occurred on January 29th at the Centennial Sportsplex. Harding completed against 70 other schools from around the mid-state. The boys placed 10th while the girls placed 14th.
Top 16 Finishers:
- Fisher Glasgow finishing 14th in the 100 Free.
- Mina Sanford finishing 2nd in the 100 Fly and 3rd in the 100 Breast.
- Quincy Topping winning both the 50 Free and 100 Breast.
Also, scoring for the team were the following members of the relays. Sammy Boylan, Hudson Drake, Katherine Fast, Slater Galloway, Ruby Gunnels, and Judge Murphy.
We will compete in our final meet the HVAC Championships on Saturday February 5th.
Harding Developmental Boys Basketball - White Wins Close Game 29-27Harding White take another win in a exciting game this past Tuesday. Both teams played with a lot of energy and fought until the last second of the game. White started out quick take a 11-1 lead and kept the intensity going into halftime with a score of 19-1.
The second half was a major turn around for Navy as the began a comeback to get back in the game. From scoring one point in the first half, the Navy was able to score 26 points to get within two points but were unable to complete the full comeback for the win.
The White was lead in scoring by Colton Bowers and Robert Topping with 6 points each. Other scorers included Jimmy Murphy with 5 points, Ademi Da Silva with 4 points, Cian Corby with 3 points, Jack Sabis and Jacob Johnson both with 2 points each, and Fletcher Brown with 1 point.
Navy was lead in scoring by Carter Billings with 7 points. This was followed by Stewart Clay and Matthew Johnson with 6 points each, and Garrett Lee, Henry Anderson, and Anders Stabell with 2 points each. There was also an accidental score from the other team to give Navy 2 more points.
The next game is the final game of the season and will be just as exciting as the other games.
Varsity Boys Basketball Defeats FRA On The RoadThe varsity boys basketball team defeated FRA on Tuesday, February 1. It was a great balanced scoring attack from the team. At the end of the third quarter, the Hawks were down 27-23. However, in the fourth quarter, the scoring picked up which led to the victory for the boys. The final score was 40-32. Quinn Taylor 9 points, Van Roberts 8, Sam Bowers 8, Thomas Hicks 6, Eli Russ 5, and Chase Embry 4 did all the scoring in the win. It was a great come from behind conference win on the road. Go Hawks!
