The Hawks came back strong this week after a couple of snow days last week. On Tuesday, the varsity team traveled to Currey Ingram. After the first quarter the Hawks took an 18-2 lead. The team executed well on offense and played some great defense in the win. The final score was 54-12. Van Roberts led all scorers with 16 points. Sam Bowers had 10 points and Quinn Taylor chipped in 8 points.

On Wednesday, the Hawks hosted CPA. This team was very big and athletic. The team really battled hard in the third and fourth quarters by playing an almost equal game after the halftime break. The Hawks fell to CPA 54-32. Sam Bowers led the team in scoring with 11 points.

Yesterday, the Hawks welcomed Pope Prep to the Roberts Gymnasium. Both teams competed hard throughout the game. We had a balanced scoring attack. Van Roberts 11, Sam Bowers 11, Thomas Hicks 8, Christian Land 5, and Quinn Taylor 5 did all of our scoring. Chase Embry did an excellent job of distributing the ball and running the offense. The final score was 43-31 in favor of the Hawks.

Boys Developmental Team - White Beats Blue 16-15
Harding White wins a close battle against Harding Navy to win their first game. The Navy team was up in the first half but slowly lost the lead due to fouls. The second half was much more competitive with Navy making a comeback after being down six points. The Navy team will look to get their win next week against the White team to even up the ongoing series of games.

Girls Developmental Basketball
The girls developmental basketball team opened up their series of intersquad games on Tuesday. It was a hard fought battle from start to finish but the blue team came out victorious scoring the final basket with 2 minutes remaining. They went on to win the game 16-14. Harper Atwood led the way scoring 8 points for the blue team. Riley Schenk and Logan Scott each recorded 4 points adding to the blue team’s score. Maddie Thomas and Louisa Smith each scored 6 points a piece for the white team. Caroline Sheets also helped the white team by netting her first basket of the season. The girls developmental team will play again on January 20th at 4pm at Harding Academy.

JV Boys Basketball Continues To Show Improvement
Wednesday, the JV basketball team faced a quality opponent  in CPA. Despite losing 42-14, the Hawks are showing signs of improvement. The Hawks were led in scoring by Sammy Boylan and Jackson Husbands, both with three points.

The JV Hawks came back Thursday and showed a tremendous amount of grit against an exceptional MBA team. The 42-21 score does not reflect the defensive effort by the young team, which was quite impressive. Mckinley Bradshaw led the Hawks with six points followed by Will Bickley with five points. The Hawks were also supported by a good rebounding effort from Eli Russ and Jackson Husbands. The JV Hawks will be back in action Thursday night against USN at 5:00.
