Colton Bowers '24,
Quinn Taylor '23, and
RJ Perkins '22. Exhibition winners were
Luke Anderson '24,

JV Boys Soccer vs. FRAAnother game where we created enough scoring opportunities in the first half but were unable to capitalize on them and build up a lead. We looked a bit tired in the 2nd half and faded a bit more near the end of the game. Overall we played well but just weren't able to take advantage of our opportunities in a similar fashion to the other team. Good improvement all around but we will get back to work tomorrow.
JV Boys Soccer vs. MBAThis is the toughest game each year and I always remind the team to remember we are a majority 6th grade team with a few 7th graders and MBA is entirely made up of 7th and 8th graders. As such this game is an opportunity to play against a very high skill level team and learn a lot about where our strengths and weaknesses are. Phenomenal goal keeping by Anders, Mateo, and Jack. No question that the score could have gotten out of hand had they not stepped up and shined today. Overall we played good defense but held onto the ball a bit too much in front of our own goal. Offensively we were able to create some good chance but were unable to capitalize on them. Despite missing several players we played through some pain and tired muscles and were able to deliver and solid showing against a strong opponent.
JV Girls Soccer vs. Poplar GroveThe Junior Varsity girls' soccer team returned to the field on Wednesday night, falling to Poplar Grove by a score of 3-1.
Elliana Galentino scored the lone goal on the afternoon for the Hawks.
Margaux Brown and
Ella Jones impressed with their passing and work in the midfield. Team captain
Stella Frisbee shined with her on-field leadership and defensive prowess.
Varsity Boys Soccer Loses to Pope Prep 1-0Tough loss for the Harding Varsity Boys. Several beautiful crosses by
Daniel Maumus,
Carter Mohr, and
Hudson Drake to
Thomas Hicks resulted in two close goals, both of which rocketed over the top of the opposing goal. Excellent defense by
Jackson Husbands,
Eli Russ, and
Quincy Topping kept Pope Prep to only one goal.
George Boero made some excellent saves as goalie.
Varsity Girls Soccer
The girls ran into the Honey Bears and the Tigers this past week. Both teams possessed the ball well, had a solid defense along with good finishers. With that being said, the Hawks held their own to keep the games competitive and close on both nights. Our defense and midfield was up for the challenge and our offense, led by Lauren Sullivan '23, kept putting pressure in the attacking third. Our effort and energy is never in doubt. The girls have a heavy load next week as they play four games (Overbrook, Pope Prep., BGA @ Home and the first round of the HVAC Tournament).
Hawks Give BA a Tough Match
The Harding Academy varsity wrestling team held a 27-24 advantage through the first 9 matches of the dual meet, but having to forfeit two of the last four weights proved too much to overcome as they fell to Brentwood Academy, 48-27. In matches contested, Harding won 5 matches to BA's 6. Winning individual matches for the Hawks were Luke Anderson '24, Cian Corby '24, Grant Song '23, Quinn Taylor '23, and RJ Perkins '22. Perkins remained undefeated and has won all his matches by a first period pin. There are two weeks left of the regular season as the team builds towards the HVAC Tournament on November 20. Next week the Hawks host Grace Christian Academy on Tuesday, Nov. 9 and travel to Nashville Christian on Thursday, November 11. Go Hawks!!
JV Girls Soccer This Week
The Junior Varsity girls soccer team played admirably in defeat in each of their two matches this week. Kipling Miller made her in game debut in goal. Fisher Glasgow scored her first goal of the season. Anne McCarley and Charlotte Hefferan impressed with a strong week of practice which carried over into their in-game performances. Samantha Massad continues to strive with strong efforts defensively. The Hawks finish out the season next week with back to back contests on Wednesday and Thursday.
