From the Desk of the Head of School- February 15, 2019
We are very lucky in that our faculty are truly exceptional. Once they arrive, they enjoy long tenures. It is one of the reasons our families feel so comfortable here. One of those exceptional faculty members will be retiring at the end of the 2018-19 school year. Suzanne Little, 3rd Grade Teacher, will be stepping out of the classroom this spring so she can spend more time with her grandbabies. She will be coming back as a sub, and if our track is any indication, will hopefully be back on campus often!
Suzanne has been a committed educator for forty-six years, the last fifteen years here at Harding Academy. Through it all, her relationships with her students have been those defined by genuine care, respect and heavy doses of humor. Suzanne is a master teacher, having served at one point as the Supervising Teacher for the Intern Program at Vanderbilt University and also serving as a mentor to countless young teachers starting out in education. Over the last fifteen years, she served on countless committees that have been instrumental in the direction Harding Academy has moved. Suzanne is an incredible colleague, who is quick with a joke and just as quick with a smile and a hug. Suffice it to say, she will be missed from all quarters.
We have begun a national search for her replacement in the 3rd Grade, but as so often is the case in these situations, someone of Suzanne’s character and caliber will never be replaced, and certainly never forgotten. Please join me in congratulating Suzanne on her tremendous and immeasurably impactful career.
