Varsity Girls Basketball Topples St. Cecilia Academy 35-22
The girls basketball hosted SCA on Thursday, January 25 at Harding Academy. This was a huge HVAC conference game. Several girls contributed to the win. From the start, Margaux Brown led the charge. She had 7 points in the first quarter. This allowed the Hawks to take a 14-8 at the end of one. Margaux finished with a game high 12 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists. The Hawks took a 22-12 lead into the half and this effort continued throughout the third and fourth quarters to seal the win. Margie Clark had 8 points and 3 rebounds. Hilary Fremont had 4 points and 6 steals. Riley Schenk and Jamie Gaddie Embry each had 4 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 block in the win. Caroline Sheets did an excellent job rebounding. She finished with 6 rebounds from the guard position. This was a much needed win for the team. The effort from these girls has been great in practice all year. Keep working hard and go Hawks!
Varsity Boys Basketball Wins Bounce Back Game Against Currey-Ingram
On Thursday, January 11th the Harding Hawks took on Currey-Ingram here in the Roberts Gym. The boys slowly and methodically built a small lead in first half before taking off and cruising to victory in the second half. The boys played great team basketball sharing the ball and seeing seven Hawks getting on the scoreboard! The boys were led on the offensive end by Walt Sanders and Luke Anderson both scoring 10 points each.
