Varsity Boys Basketball Starts New Year With Win vs FCA
On January 5th, the Harding Hawks came out on top in an exciting game against Franklin Christian Academy. The Hawks started the game strong turning their defense into easy offense off of numerous steals. They remained poised and disciplined as FCA began to press full court. The boys showed incredible improvements in their passing and ball security as they seemed to handle the press with ease. Walt Sanders led the way offensively with 13pts including three triples, but he wasn't alone. This was a huge team effort as Elijah Westbrook added 9pts, Robert Topping 8pts, Luke Anderson 7pts, and Avin Burditt sealed the game with two huge free throws at the end.

JV Girls Basketball Wins Over St. Matthews 24-14
Our team hit the floor excited to play a team that looked like a good match up and quickly took the lead with two baskets from Grace Thigpen in the first couple of minutes. We maintained that lead for a while, but let them get back in the game to tie us at 10 at half time. With a second half plan to work together better to beat their press and play more solid defense so they didn't get any easy shots, we pulled ahead steadily for a comfortable win at the end. Grace and Blythe Darden both did a great job handling pressure and making good choices either delivering passes to teammates when open or taking their shots when they came. Sumner Hanks and Grace led the scoring, with additional baskets put in by Reagan Reynolds, Nina Armstrong, Belle Yeagle, Kenzie Lack, and Fielding Moloney. Our taller players made a remarkable number of blocked shots near the basket where they went straight up with their arms and didn't get fouls called, a key to our win.  Keys to our offense were girls driving hard to the basket to score and the way all the players, not just our point guards, did a great job of seeing each other and making good passes.
