Varsity Cross-Country Competes in HVAC Div. A Finals
The varsity cross-country teams ran their final meet of the season on Wednesday, Sept. 29 at the USN River Campus. Both teams competed in the Division A finals. Hilary Fremont was able to crack the top 10 with a 4th place finish overall with a time of 14:50 in the 2 mile run. Judge Murphy ran an excellent race as well and finished in 6th place overall with a time 13:44. Annie Thurman set a personal record with a time 17:20. Darcy Dove ran her race in 18:18. This was a PR for her as well. I'm so proud of the effort from the entire team yesterday. It was a hot day, but they did not let the conditions hinder their performance. Way to go Hawks!

Varsity Football Takes On Ensworth in Final Game
Harding Academy traveled to Ensworth on Thursday, Sept. 30 for its final game of the year. The atmosphere was electric, under the lights on the high school field that many players will play on in years to come. Ensworth used big plays to jump out to an 18-0 lead in the first half before Harding responded. Sam Bowers '22 took over at quarterback for injured Jackson Lucas and directed a scoring drive for the Hawks that resulted in a touchdown as the buzzer sounded indicating halftime. Bowers connected on a long tipped pass to Quinn Taylor '23 that set up the scoring run. Harding was able to punch in the 2 pt. conversion to cut the score to 18-8 at halftime. Coming out of the half, Ensworth was able to put a couple more scores on the board extending the lead to 32-8 before Sam Bowers struck again returning a kickoff to the house only the long scoring play was called back due to a block in the back penalty. This did not deter Harding as Hezzie Lee '22 (Valor) jumped into the backfield from his tackle position and rumbled 50 yards setting up the Hawks inside the 10 yd. line. Bowers did the rest executing a QB read play. The 2 pt. conversion failed bringing the score to 32-14. Ensworth scored on its ensuing drive to extend its lead to 38-14. Each team traded touchdowns in the 4th quarter with Bowers once again reaching pay dirt for the Hawks and Hezzie Lee converting a 2 pt. conversion to set the final score at 44-22.
We are proud of our 8th graders and they will be missed moving forward. These young men did an excellent job leading a team that has not seen the field since the fall of 2018. 8th grade members of the team include:
