Harding Athletic Highlights 1/25-1/29

Girls Varsity Basketball (January 25-29)
The Harding Girls’ Basketball team had two away games this week. On Wednesday they traveled to USN and won by a final score of 25-16. Gracie Lucas led the team with 9 points, and also had a number of steals due to her hustle defensively. Emerson Smith was a catalyst for the Hawk’s offense, scoring 5 and consistently setting her teammates up for high-percentage shots. The team lost on Thursday to a talented Harpeth Hall basketball team, as ball security was a struggle throughout the game for the Hawks. The team is looking to bounce back next week with two games as they try and defend their home court. Go Hawks!

6th Grade Boys Basketball Defeats St. Paul 37-33

The sixth grade boys basketball team traveled to St. Paul on Monday, January 25. This was a hard fought game for the Hawks that went into overtime. Harding played only five players with no subs. Eli Russ led the team with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Camden Haren finished with 8 points and McKinley Bradshaw chipped in six points. Quinn Taylor was all over the boards. He finished the game with 14 rebound and Chase Embry led the offensive charge and finished with 3 assists. Great win for the Hawks!

JV Boys Basketball Defeats USN 35-18
The JV boys basketball team traveled to USN on Wednesday, January 27. The team started out hot and took a 11-0 after the first quarter. Austin Tant and Quinn Taylor led the team in scoring with 11 points each. Nathan Vogeli pumped in 6 points. Eli russ went 3 for 4 from the line to finish with 3 points. It was a great team win!

Varsity Boys Basketball Loses To USN
The Hawks ran into a tough USN team on Wednesday, January 27. At the half, the Tigers led 22-11. In the second half the defense of USN prevailed. The final score was 50-16. Will Sanders led the Hawks in scoring with 6 points. Austin Tant and JD Codispoti scored 3 points each. 

JV Girls Game Week 2
The Junior Varsity Hawks competed valiantly while playing three games over a four day stretch. Lauren Sullivan led all scorers in the first two contests, eclipsing the double digit scoring mark against St. Paul and posting a team high seven points against Ensworth. Greer Bodzy tallied a team leading seven points against Harpeth Hall, knocking down four free throws and adding a successful attempt from three point range. Hudsyn Waddey exhibited tremendous toughness and on-court leadership throughout each of the three contests. Kenzie Miller added a layup against St. Paul, while Kipling Miller scored six points over the two contests in which she played this week. 

Hawks Keep Soaring
The boys basketball development team has progressed tremendously in just a short period of time. With George Boero leading the team with 19 points in Thursday’s game and Owen Anderson with 12 points Tuesday Evening, all the boys are showing extreme dedication and teamwork. Each an every player is scoring, rebounding, passing, playing defense, etc. We look to keep our momentum going into next week with a goal of getting better each day!
