Ron Crawford

Dear Harding Academy Community,

We are sad to share the news of the death of our good friend, Ron Crawford.  Ron served as coach, Physical Education teacher, outdoor education leader from the Grand Tetons to the Okefenokee Swamp, and mentor to countless students during his twenty years as a member of the Harding Academy faculty.  He was a great man and good friend to the young people he helped shape.

Remembered by his former colleagues and students as having an infectious laugh and always willing to share a story, Ron was a fixture at Harding from 1979 to 1998.  His approach was simple: he followed the Golden Rule. He instilled in his students respect, patience and love; characteristics many carry with them to this day. He pushed his students outside of their comfort zones and helped each find a sense of self-confidence and discipline on the court, in the mountains, on the field and throughout their lives.

Innumerable lives were touched by his gentle spirit and kind heart.  At this time no arrangements have been set but we will announce them as soon as they are made.

Our utmost appreciation and deepest sympathies are with his son Jai and all who knew and loved Coach Crawford.
