March 15, 2018
Today we launched our Spring Break by celebrating Jump and Hoop It Up Day, the culmination of a fundraising effort conceived by the students every year and shepherded by our PE Department. Parents were here all day watching their children as they demonstrated all they had learned about staying active and fit.
The culminating event was the faculty versus student basketball game. At halftime, Carol Macpherson invited the Gift family to half court where she revealed that as a community we raised over $9,000 for the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (which took the life of our beloved Camille Gift last year) Foundation, the mission of which is to support families affected by Prion Disease, raise awareness, and support medical education and research. It was fitting that the Harding family welcomed back home the Gift family and honored the memory of their matriarch, Camille, with such an overwhelming display of support.
And so, we have all dispersed to our various destinations for Spring Break, relishing the opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and recharge for the sprint to the finish of the school year. In doing so, please know that your Harding family will be excited to see you all again soon!
Have a great break.
P.S. I want to wish the Student Team a congratulations on their victory against the Faculty Team. If you’re wondering why the gym lights are on so late over the next twelve months - don’t. It’s just the faculty team hitting the hardwood in preparation for redemption in 2019…
