From the Desk of the Head of School- October 28, 2022

Dear Harding Academy Learning Community,

It has been a busy week here on Windsor Drive and looks to be a busy week coming up. Señora Derrick and our PreK students have been working on their altars for the Día de Muertos and sharing them with the rest of the school community. Speaking of sharing, we have a new visitor to Harding Academy, a juvenile Red Tail Hawk, which shared a snack with our students ahead of carpool yesterday afternoon (see below). We also hosted our week long feedback sessions for the Harding Immersive Series and are excited to see what great ideas come out of that.

Next week, we will celebrate Halloween on Monday and I’m sure you have seen the emails regarding costumes. I am really looking forward to seeing the Middle School costume skits - the competition is fierce. I’ve noticed a few middle school advisories getting in extra skit practice after school…

On Tuesday at 1:30 PM in the Theatre, we will be convening for our assembly dedicated to Native American and Indigenous Peoples Heritage Month. This year we welcome Larry Yazzie, a member of the Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa/Meskwaki. He is a multi-talented dancer, singer, educator, and international lecturer. Please join us if you are available. Parking will be available in the front and lower lot. You can learn more HERE

Finally, our Second Harvest bags and the online donation link will go out Thursday, November 3rd. The Second Harvest Food Drive is our largest drive of the year and serves our Middle Tennessee community in very meaningful ways.

I hope you are able to rest and relax this weekend and I look forward to seeing you (or you in your costume!) next week.
