Varsity Girls Lacrosse vs. FRA
The Harding Varsity Girls’ lacrosse team opened up their season with a 7-6 loss to FRA on Wednesday. Although the outcome was not a win, they battled their way back from a 4-1 deficit to tie the game at 6. FRA scored with 3 minutes remaining to take the lead. Lexi Lampka and Gracie Meriwether each scored 2 goals. Emerson Smith and Lauren Sullivan each scored a goal as well. Susan McCarley, Narcissa Broome, Neko Mannes and Samantha Massad held down the defensive unit, each recording multiple ground balls and caused turnovers as well.

Varsity Baseball Wins Opener 3-2
The Harding baseball team returned from their spring break with a couple big games near the end of the week. On Thursday, the Hawks squared off for a league game against Ensworth. After a quick top half of the first inning, Sam Bowers got the offense rolling with a leadoff double to left field. Bowers continued to wreak havoc in the frame with his aggressive base running, eventually taking the early lead by scoring on a straight steal of home with two outs. RJ Perkins played his first game of the season after returning from a back injury, and made an impact by scoring a go ahead run later on in the third inning. Camden Haren had a great game offensively; even though he didn’t record a base hit, he led the team with three quality at bats. The game went back and forth throughout, and included five different lead changes. Ultimately a late run scored in the bottom of the fourth inning by Jackson Husbands would be the difference, as the Hawks came out victorious by a score of 3-2. Benton Wright had another strong outing on the mound to earn the win, pitching five innings while striking out six. The team looks to take the momentum into a Friday afternoon matchup, as they head into the heart of their season in the coming weeks. Go Hawks!
