From the Desk of the Head of School- September 24, 2021

Dear Harding Academy Learning Community,

This week our school’s Leadership Team discussed Simon Sinek’s brief presentation on his concept of the Infinite Game. If you have read Sinek’s books or seen any of his TED talks, you’ll know his basic premise here is that in an “industry” (I prefer the term craft, personally) like education, we are all playing an infinite game. That is there is no fixed beginning, middle and end with agreed upon conditions for someone winning and losing. To the contrary, in education we are always growing, always learning, always seeking to be our better selves.

As a learning community - especially as an independent school learning community (if you want to dive even deeper, check out THIS article on Why Do Independent Schools Exist? by John Gulla, Executive Director of the E.E. Ford Foundation) - I take great pride in our shared approach to always growing, to keeping our children and their future front and center, and in the trusting teams that work each day to advance our just cause: to educate and inspire young people to become thoughtful, creative, lifelong learners and self-disciplined, responsible, caring citizens.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and enjoy being outside on what I hope are a couple of incredible fall days!
