From the Desk of the Head of School- April 9, 2021
Dear Parents,
We have been the beneficiaries of incredible spring weather this week. It’s that type of week where the smells on the breeze harken us back to the spring days of our own youth. For our children at Harding Academy it has meant a welcome invitation to get back outside. In fact, so many of our students have been outside so much these past two weeks, that Mr. Greenlee had to plea for some time to actually mow the grass! Here are just a few of the happenings outside at Harding Academy:
- This was outside week in PreK, culminating in MUD day on Thursday!
- Our student council hosted grades 6th, 7th, and 8th at Kever Park for a picnic lunch.
- Thursday saw PreK, 1st, 4th, and middle school enjoying Kever Park. Some were having class meetings, others were in PE, some were at recess, and still others were in Spanish class.
- Students created sculpted hands - inspired by the Renaissance - by taking plaster molds of their own hands outside of the Art rooms.
As the cherry trees have bloomed, the dogwoods come to life, the daffodils leave their mark, and the canopy of our campus turns green, it is a wonderful reminder - seeing kids outside at school - that the environment in which a child learns matters. Being able to connect and collaborate in a beautiful space energizes our students. I would be remiss if I didn’t take a moment to thank David Greenlee, Andy Clark, and Charles Maumus who work tirelessly in their respective roles to make sure the campus and its surroundings are pristine. It is due to their work that our students can enjoy such a wonderful setting for learning.
