A Message From The School Nurse: September 27, 2020

Harding Families,

We want to thank all of you for taking that extra time each morning to complete the Magnus COVID screening app. We know that weekday mornings are busy getting children up and to school, and we have appreciated that you all have consistently remembered to do that, and want to thank you for that. It takes the whole community to put the extra effort in with each of the many ways we have asked you to do that this year, and we are grateful for the community effort we continue to see, so thank you.

Allergy season is upon us, and we would like to encourage those parents of children with seasonal allergies to consider giving their child daily allergy medication, in order to decrease the number of students that may need to be sent home due to symptoms. As you may know, seasonal allergies and COVID-19 share many symptoms, and we would love to minimize the number of students we send home, if possible.

As a reminder, we are using this algorithm from the Tennessee Department of Health to help us determine when to send a student home, and the protocols for when they can return to campus. It may be helpful for families to print and have it available to use as a resource for if/when your child reports any symptoms. It is important to note that if your child falls into the second category in blue, in which case they present with one high risk symptom or two low risk symptoms, then that child and any siblings that attend Harding Academy need to stay home.

Sincerely,

Moira Clark, RN, BSN
