From the Desk of the Head of School- September 27, 2019

Dear Parents,

It’s been quite the week in the middle school. On Monday, we launched our Spirit Week and if you were lucky enough to get over to the middle school building and check out the door decorations in support of our various athletic teams, you saw just how spirited our middle schoolers can be. This all comes from a place of supporting our many student-athletes who compete on teams for Harding Academy and whose early fall seasons are culminating in final games and tournaments. The mission of Harding Academy athletics is to provide an opportunity for every student to grow in confidence and character in a supportive, team environment with a focus on fundamental skill development, healthy competition and building positive, meaningful relationships. Overall, our teams had a successful early fall season:

  • The Girls Varsity Volleyball team made it to the semifinals of the HVAC A Division tournament.
  • Girls Varsity Cross Country won the HVAC A Division championship for the third year in a row.
  • Boys Varsity Cross Country qualified to run in the highly competitive HVAC AA division and did well. Our 5th Grade team came in second in the HVAC 5th/6th Level.
  • Boys Tennis concluded their second consecutive undefeated season and the Girls Tennis team is competing in their HVAC tournament as I write this.
  • Three Harding golfers, Austin Tant, J.D. Codispoti, and Charlotte Gunnels qualified for the HVAC Golf tournament finals.
  • The Mountain Biking Team placed two racers in the top twenty at their latest race on September 15 and look forward to their next race on October 6.
  • The 5th/6th Grade Football team has grown each game of the season with a highlight coming in an 18-6 victory over St. Henry’s. They play again on Saturday versus St. Rose.
  • The Varsity Cheerleading Team brought the house down with their cheer and tumble routine at the school’s pep rally this past Tuesday and the future is bright for this program.

We are very proud of all of our student-athletes who have worked so hard since early August as they conclude their seasons. They are truly representative of our motto for Harding athletics: Confidence. Character. Connection.

Have a great weekend.
