Harding Athletic Highlights 4/8-4/12

Boys Varsity Lacrosse is Defeated by Hendersonville Lacrosse Club
Hendersonville Lacrosse Club came out strong offensively forcing the ball back to Harding's defense often.
With over 13 shots on goal the first quarter, Hendersonville led 0-2. Over the course of the game, the Generals fought hard to win 4 of the 13 face-offs. The second quarter resulted in a 0-10 score in favor of Hendersonville. In goal Mac Lowrance had over 5 saves during the first half! Second half, Max Hocker suited up for goal and was able to save 4 shots. Mark Ryan Henderson led the defense with over 5 interceptions, ground ball steals and clears followed by Walker Lindsey. Through the midfield and at attack we had several players able to take shots on goal: Hudson Frazier (6 shots, 1 goal), Christopher McEvoy (Overbrook- 4 shots) and Max Kohler (4 shots, 2 goals). This was a physical game. We are proud of the boys for their perseverance and grit as we play these tough games.

Girls Varsity Lacrosse Suffers First Defeat vs. Woodland Middle School
Harding Varsity Girls Lacrosse suffers first defeat in a close game with Woodland Middle. The Lady Generals played a awesome game but came up a little short. The defense had a strong showing lead by Lindsay Parker. Mia Sjursen had a great game in goal with 5 saves. Most of the goals scored by Woodland came from one player, who was shooting through 3 defenders. When this occurs it is really hard for Mia to pick out the ball. Mary Haley was the leader at Middie. She finished with 5 draws, 3 goals and 2 interceptions. Grace Moore, Anna Lindsley, Ellie Johnson, Sarah Kate Faber and Emerson Bone added one goal each.

Quinn Powers Throws a Gem In Varsity Baseball Game vs. Lipscomb Academy
A recurring theme of the Generals season has been the masterful pitching of Quinn Powers. He, along with the solid defensive effort behind the plate of 6th grader Michael Dattilo, have been consistent highlights of the season. A few defensive miscues opened the game up for the Mustangs in the 2nd inning, but the Generals continued to fight! 6th grader Graham Smith came into a tough spot and contributed a few innings of solid relief work. In the final inning the Harding bats came alive for a last ditch rally behind the bat of Chase Franck and Fletcher Shirley. While the Generals are still looking to add to the win column, the effort continues to impress!
