From the Desk of the Head of School- April 12, 2019

As we close in on the end of the school year, we also near one of most anticipated events on the calendar: The Harding Art Show.

The Harding Art Show has developed and flourished over the years, and has grown alongside Harding's overall growth.  Thousands of parents have given their time, energy and resources to make this the single largest fundraising event each and every year.  This year is no exception.  Chairs Elizabeth Broome and Tysha Huber have lead an outstanding group of committee chairs and volunteers, ensuring that we once again bring together not just the Harding community, but thousands from across the city to see an extraordinary display of art.

I have often reflected on what makes this event so special.  The incredible concentration of creativity that fascinates such a large audience is undoubtedly a major component.  But I realized early on what makes this event so exceptional is the sense of community that inundates the campus not just during the weekend of the show, but the weeks and months of planning ahead of the show that bridge so many people across our community together.

Harding Academy has long emphasized the importance of coming together, building the sense of community that surrounds us and fostering relationships both new and old.  This is at the heart of who we are and the Harding Art Show embodies this fundamental aspect of our school year after year.  It is a time to support the days, weeks, and months of planning that have contributed to the culmination of this incredible event, while also finding new ways to engage in the life of the school.  I thank you all who have given of yourself in support of the Harding Art Show over the years, and ask those who have not had the pleasure of participating to think about volunteering at this year's show.  It is sure to be a production for the ages!
