Varsity Girls Basketball Starts Season with Win Over MJCA The Harding Academy Girls Basketball Team began their season with a 48-5 conference win over visiting Mt. Juliet Christian Academy. After just a handful of practices, the Harding Academy girls stepped onto their home court for their first game of the season and quickly sprinted out to a 20-0 first quarter lead on the strength of the inside play of Riley Jones and Annelise Kyzer and the outside play of Carly Frist, Grace Moore and Mary Haley. The second quarter saw more of the same with energetic contributions from Lindsey Parker, Reese Turner and Gabby Land. The second half featured a surge of defensive pressure in the half court buoyed by numerous steals by Moore, Parker, Madeleine Merville, Anna Lindsley and Evie Frist. Jones led Harding in scoring with 12 points, followed by Turner with 8 points and Carly Frist with 7 points. Balanced contributions came from Moore, Kyzer, Parker and Land with 4 points each, while Mary Haley added 3 points and Merville tallied 2 points to round out the scoring.
Varsity Boys Basketball Loses Hard Fought First Game to MJCA The varsity boys basketball team started their season against Mt. Juliet Christian Academy on Thursday, November 29 at the Robert's Gymnasium. The Saints from MJCA came out firing. They took an 18-4 lead after the first quarter. From the second quarter on, the Generals settled down and matched the intensity from the visiting team. The final score was 51-41 in favor of the Saints. Grant Gilmour led the team in scoring with 16 points. Robert Koehner chipped in 8 points in his first game as a General. Cassidy Haje pumped in 5 points as well in the second quarter. This was a great learning experience for the team. Keep working hard Generals!
