From the Desk of of the Head of School - April 27, 2018
This is the time of year when we begin to consider what we might be reading over the summer months. As a learning community, selecting a few influential reads is a wonderful way to get the dialogue around what we hope to offer our children as they grow up. In fact, it can lead to more than that. In our case, reading The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace led to such great conversation that as part of our Don Schwartz Distinguished Educator Speaker Series, the author, Jeff Hobbs, will be speaking at Harding Academy on November 15, 2018. If you’ve not read the book, I highly recommend it.
Which leads me to our 2018 summer reading. Every year, the National Association of Independent Schools sends out a collection of books they recommend educators read. You can access that list HERE. We will most likely select at least one of these books, but I would love to hear from you as to which books you might be reading this summer. Feel free to email me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org and let me know!
